Desyrel is used for treating depression. It may also be useful for reduction of an anxiety disorder (eg, sleeplessness, anxiety), persistent pain. Desyrel is an antidepressant. It is believed to increase the activity of one of the brain chemicals (serotonin), which helps elevate mood.
Use Desyrel as directed by your doctor.
Take Desyrel soon following a meal or light snack.
It might take 1 to four weeks for Desyrel to operate. Do not stop taking Desyrel without consulting your doctor.
Take it as as soon as you can, in case a dose is missed. If several hours have passed or if it is nearing time for the next dose, don't double the dose to catch up. If multiple dose is missed, restart medication and counsel your doctor or pharmacist at your next visit.

Don't use Desyrel if:
you are hypersensitive to any ingredient in Desyrel or nefazodone
You're taking sodium oxybate (GHB).

Some medical conditions might interact with Desyrel. Tell your doctor or druggist if you hold any medical conditions, particularly if any of these apply to you:
if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or are breast feeding
If you're using any prescription or nonprescription medication, herbal preparation, or supplement
In case you are allergic to medicines, foods, or other materials
When you have heart problems including abnormal heartbeat or have had a heart attack
When you have a brief history of depression or suicidal tendencies
In case you are planned to get surgery
if you consume alcohol consumption.
Some medications might interact with Desyrel. Communicate to your doctor in case you are getting any medications, particularly any of the following:

Important safety advice:
Desyrel can cause drowsiness, dizziness, or blurred vision. These effects may be worse if you take it along with alcohol or particular medications. Use Desyrel with warning. Don't drive or execute other potential unsafe tasks until you know how you respond to it.
Don't drink alcohol or use medications that might lead to drowsiness (eg, sleep aids, muscle relaxers) while you are using Desyrel; it can increase their results. Request your druggist if you've got questions about which medicines might cause drowsiness.

Desyrel must not really be used in kids younger 6 years; security and effectiveness in these children have not been confirmed.
